What is Worldview and Why is it Important?

Everyone has a worldview that directs the way they see the world and think about the World and their place in it. Everything you experience in Life is filtered through your worldview.

The Short Definition:

Your worldview is the mental “lens” that filters and focuses the way you see the world and interact with it.

The Long Definition:

WORLDVIEW:
A Way of Seeing the world that is developed
from the Core Commitment (at heart level)
to a way of Worship that is guided by
a set of Ideas and Beliefs (whether true or untrue),
most often set in the form of a Master Story,
which directs the way we Understand Reality
and live our lives together with others.

So, your worldview is both your vision of and for life. Your Worldview is always processing and shaping your experience. For these reasons, it is important to understand what a worldview is and how it works. More specifically, it is vitally important to understand what your real worldview is and how it works.

One of the most powerful abilities we have is the ability to evaluate, emend, change, and develop our worldview.

Each line of the definition above needs to be unpacked and explored. That is what we will do in the rest of this course.
