For there is one God
and one mediator between God and humanity,
Christ Jesus, Himself human…”
(1 Timothy 2:5)
As should be clear by now, Jesus is central to a Christian worldview. He is EVERYTHING to those who trust and follow Him. He defines reality as our Creator, Savior and King. And since He is the one mediator between the One True God and humanity He reveals the reality of Father God to us, or as John says:
“No one has ever seen God.
The only Son, who is truly God and is closest to the Father,
has shown us what God is like.”
– John 1:18 CEV –
As THE mediator between God and humanity, Jesus also functions a our ultimate Master – our Master Teacher – who shows us how to live life in a way that is pleasing to our Heavenly Father and also soul satisfying for us. Consider Jesus’ words in these verses:
“A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master. 25 It is enough for the disciple to be like his teacher, and the servant like his master.
– Matthew 10:24–25 24 –
“If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples,
and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
– John 8:31–32 –
“These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.”
– John 15:11 –
It is beyond the scope of this study to talk about all that is entailed in becoming a faithful follower of Jesus. But you can see that Jesus is exalted in a Bible based, Christian Worldview as the Master Teacher and our Great High Priest. Consider this:
Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.
– Hebrews 4:14–15 –
As the Master of our worldview, Jesus is not distant and harsh. Instead, He is sympathetic to our weaknesses. Since He Himself is human, he knows how difficult it is to live in this twisted and sin corrupted world. As Jesus leads us, He is also here to help us in His grace and mercy:
“Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”
– Hebrews 4:16 –
Not only does Jesus lead his people in the “Way of True Life,” He is also faithful to us leading us to the Father without fail. He is our Master and Expert who we focus on and the One who defines are roles as His royal priesthood.
“Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of a heavenly calling,
consider [stay focused on] Jesus,
the Apostle and High Priest of our confession. (Hebrews 3:1)
