Today, we light the Green Candle and the Black Candle. The Green Candle represents life and all that Father God created in Christ, Good and Whole. The Black Candle represents the Evil and Corruption of Sin that entered our World through our rebellion.

The Advent Season is one of our family’s most treasured times of year. So many traditions, some rich and meaningful, others lighthearted and fun, mark these weeks of celebration, all leading up to the day we celebrate our Savior’s birth. This year, we wanted to share a tradition that has helped us keep the focus on Christ as we trace The Story leading up to His birth.

Finally, we reach the end of our journey together. Not THE end, but just a conclusion to these readings. This may be the end of our readings, but it is only the beginning of the next steps of your journey with and IN Christ. This is the main question that many have: “How do I know what my gift is???” Before we even deal with this question, I think it is important to understand that you do not simply have a spiritual gift or gifts, but that YOU are the gift that Christ has given to His Body the Church. We like to focus on our gifts because it is easy to quantify what we do. We have all been influenced by the subtle lie (especially here in the US) that what we do is more important than who we are. In the Body of Christ who you are (the whole person) is of first importance. What you do simply flows out of your true identity in Christ.
