2 Corinthians 3:17
Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is present, there is freedom.
The week, we want to see clearly how the Holy Spirit works within us to lead us to Jesus and glorify Jesus. The Holy Spirit is our great Advocate—our helper, our witness, our guide, our power. As we turn ourselves over to Him, He will fill us with the Life of Christ Himself, full of truth, goodness and glory. The Holy Spirit has been given to us to guide us into all truth, which is Jesus our Lord. The Spirit leads us, intercedes for us, empowers us and desires to fill us so that we can experience the reality of Jesus’ life in the here and now and not just in the hereafter.
(more…)The Holy Spirit has been given to us so that we are empowered to produce the good, virtuous way of Jesus in our own lives. This is what we were designed to do. Even though we have been corrupted by the power of sin, the Holy Spirit enables us to produce the goodness of God as we live by and in Him.
(more…)Jesus is working through His Holy Spirit in order to transform us completely: our thoughts, our desires, our emotions. The Spirit has been given to us to lead us and empower us in this new, transformed way of life.
(more…)Today, we continue to discuss how the Spirit has set us free to live an entirely NEW WAY of LIFE. The Spirit has set us free, not so we can serve ourselves, but so we can serve one another.

For you were called to freedom, brothers and sisters; only do not use your freedom as an opportunity to indulge your flesh, but through love serve one another.
This week we begin to deal with the question, “How do we live by the Holy Spirit?” The Holy Spirit has been given to us to enable us to do what no “external law” or commandment could never do: empower us to live out the life of Jesus, shaped by the goodness of His character.

… that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
Today, we are going to do a little review and think back to some issues that we covered very early on in our readings. It is often helpful to be able to visualize the truths we are discussing because we are talking about things that are actually taking place in us.
For the Body [of Christ] does not consist of one member but of many…
If one member suffers, we all suffer together…”
1 Corinthians 12:14–26
As many of you have heard, Jill’s brother – Jim Allman – suffered a massive stroke on the evening of August 9, 2025. He was rushed to the hospital where life-saving measures were performed that night, and an emergency craniectomy was performed the next day. We are praising the Lord that Jim survived the initial crisis, but the road ahead is filled with many fears and uncertainties. According to his doctors, recovery and rehab will be measured in months, if not years. No one but our Father-God knows what the road ahead looks like, and we are trusting in Him to meet all their needs through the love and support of the Body of Christ in the months ahead.
If you would like to help, you can do so in the following ways:
Pray
“The Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.” (Romans 8:26)
Join us in prayer for Jim, his sweet wife Abbey, and their two boys Asher and Asa. We are asking for healing, wisdom, and endurance. We don’t know how to pray as we should, but trust and take comfort that the Holy Spirit is interceding for us in our weakness.

If you would like to have updates on Jim’s progress, we are posting updates through Caring Bridge.

Mosaic Church Memphis – the Allman’s church family – has established a benevolence fund to help with the ongoing costs of Jim’s recovery. Due to the long term nature of Jim’s recovery, his paid leave and disability will be used up fairly quickly. We know there are many family and friends who will want to help alleviate some of that burden.
