The One True God has revealed the truth of His existence to us in creation, or nature. He has revealed His goodness in the message of the Bible. He has revealed His glory to us in the person of Jesus Christ. To understand who the One True God is, we must understand that He is first our loving and gracious Heavenly Father.
Jeremiah 10:10
But YHWH is the true God;
He is the living God and eternal King.

Today, we talk about some of the “practical” things the Message of the Bible Does for us. Simply put, the Scriptures guide us in the hopeful way of true life.
Psalms 119:114
You are my shelter and my shield;
I put my hope in Your word.
2 Timothy 3:14–17
“But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the Sacred Writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the person dedicated to God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”
We all need an authoritative source—someone or something—to give us the answers we need to our core life questions. The Bible claims to give us THE Truth about life; not A truth, but THE Truth. At the center of this TRUTH is the person of Jesus Christ. This week, we are going to consider why we are convinced the Bible gives us these answers.

In our last reading for the week, we consider how the Master Story creates the context that is needed to understand why the message about Jesus is Good News – the Gospel. Over the next couple of weeks, we are going to be shifting our focus to the Gospel. Before we get there is it important to have some frame of reference that helps us understand why this Gospel is “Good News!”
