Job chapters 1 and 2 introduce us to the “behind the scenes” setting for all the discussions that take place in the book. Because Job is unique in his integrity – the is no one like him on the Earth the LORD says – he is a unique candidate for a test. Has Job been faithful to the LORD for no reason or does he only worship the LORD because of his blessings? These chapters give us great insight into the LORD’s responsibility for all that happens in the rest of the book.
