Throughout MilktoMeat we explore the relationship of Hope, Faith, and Love. These three virtues are intertwined and inseparable. In our fist Phase, Discovering the Way, we focused on Hope as being the “first thing” that our Heavenly Father gives us through the Message of the Gospel (see Colossians 1:4-6). Yesterday we reviewed the foundational role Hope plays in our lives. Now we are going to focus on understanding Faith.

Today we discuss Hope. Hope is not “wishful thinking.” Hope is confident expectation. For those who are following Jesus – He is our HOPE! As we have already heard, Hope is the movement in our “depths” that leads us to faith.

We have already been completely accepted in Christ—welcomed into the eternal fellowship of the Father, Son, and Spirit—through faith in Christ. In this new relationship, we have a New Position and Identity that equips us to live an entirely new way of life that is pleasing to The Father and soul-satisfying to us.

Today we complete our journey through Phase 1 of MilktoMeat – Discovering THE Way. If you have followed along so far, you should feel a real sense of accomplishment. We end this unit by focusing on Christ and all that He has done for us. We also give a “sneak peak” of what is coming next.

There are many false “Gospels” which try to lead us away from simple faith in Christ. These untrue ways focus on what we do rather than on what Christ has done for us. Instead of giving us life, these deceptive philosophies only lead us to death.

Galatians 1:6-7
I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel—not that there is another one, but there are some who trouble you and want to distort the gospel of Christ.
Since the very beginning, there have been false teachers – those not in line with the Truth of Jesus – who have sought to lead others away from the true teaching of and about Jesus. We must be on the lookout for these types of people and the “false gospels” they proclaim.

1 Timothy 2:5-6
“For there is one God and one mediator between God and humanity, Christ Jesus, Himself human, who gave Himself—a ransom for all, a testimony at the proper time.”
Throughout history, there have been many “additions” and “subtractions” made to the one true Gospel. This week, we want to explore two of the “roots” of these false teachings so that you can discern these false gospels when they appear.
